What does being a student at the uni mean to you? 

Gaining confidence, it’s about meeting new people, learning about new things. 

I went to Hong Kong for six months, I learnt a lot of things there and I didn’t really get involved in the uni before that, so I feel like the university to me was to get involved and meet new people and accepting help from other people as well which is what I did before I went to Hong Kong.

Why are you running for this role? 

I want to see change in the University. 

Being British-Pakistani and a female as well I feel like there’s not that many things that are available for women.

I’ve seen ‘This Girl Can’ but that was done a couple of years ago and it’s not come back since – so I want to get more women in sports.

My main concern is about the safety of women, going back home late at night after events too.

I had a main cause and that was specifically to make student life better for the underrepresented communities and women in general.

[‘This Girl Can’] It’s an event that’s throughout the week to get more women into sports. These are women only sessions and are for any sport you choose.

What do you hope to bring to the uni? 

I just want the student life to be better for all students and if that’s just by me talking to students, asking them how they feel about certain things and implementing that change, that is what I will try my best to do. 

I just want change, change as a whole in the University. 

Why should people give you their vote? 

I feel like I’m not going to be too confident, but I would say that I have experience in this kind of field.

I talk to a lot of people, I understand how it is to be an international student as well for when I studied at Hong Kong as part of my exchange program. 

I take part in events in the uni; any event I’d most likely I’d be there and I enjoy talking to people and knowing what the problem is and what I can do to fix that issue.

If you could sum up your campaign in three words, what would they be and why? 

Inclusivity, Change and Safety.

I want students to feel safe that they have me as an Activities Officer, I want them to feel comfortable to talk to me.
