NUS and your Students Union are conducting research into the impact of proposals in the immigration bill. This page explains what the survey is about and how you can enter the draw to win one of five amazon vouchers.
About the survey
The UK government has made a number of proposals in their new Immigration Bill which would impact international students studying or intending to study in the UK.
In the Immigration Bill the UK government is proposing an additional fee of at least £150 per year for each student, and a separate fee for each dependent of a student, as a contribution to the National Health Service (NHS). This fee would be paid at the point of applying for or renewing a visa and should only impact those currently in the country when they renewed their visa if the bill goes through as proposed. For example, someone studying a 3 year degree would expect to pay an additional £450 fee when they paid their visa fee.
The Immigration Bill also proposes that landlords be required to check the immigration status of their tenants. This will include student accommodation, private lettings and lodgers (those staying in a room in someone’s house).
This survey should take only 5 minutes to complete. Your responses will be used to help us keep decision makers informed about what international students think of the proposals.
Use of the information you provide
NUS will use the information you provide in its campaigning and lobbying activity. We will never identify you by name, but we may use your works in publications, web pages and other output. We will never identify you personally without your express consent.
