Dom interview for Equity Role

What does being a student at this uni mean to you?

I’m currently Vice President of Dance and a member of Basketball. It’s a lot about the community. Coming to university you’re hoping to come out with a degree, but you’re also making longlasting friendships.

My brother who’s almost a decade older than me, he still lives with his friends from university so that’s what it’s all about – friendship.

Why are you running for this role?

I believe there’s a lot that can be done within this uni to make everyone feel like it’s a level playing field.

I want to give everyone the same opportunities, chances to go out and make friends and even to get their uni work done.

What do you hope to bring to this uni?

Bringing a lot more collaborations with the global and the religious societies, with the hobbies and the sports societies.

It feels like they’re very separate, that’s not how it should be. When a lot of people talk about diversity, they tend to forget it also means bringing people together.

I’m pushing for everyone to be friends and giving everyone a chance where they can understand each other’s cultures.

Why should people give you their vote?

I believe people should vote for me because I have worked alongside a lot of other committees and I know a lot about how this SU runs.

I’ve been close friends with the current committee and I know the SU processes and how the office runs. I’d be able to jump straight into the role.

If you could sum up your campaign in three words, what would they be and why?

Classy. Fun. Inclusive.

My whole campaign is about how I want everyone to feel like we’re all together, I’m the kind of guy that wants everything to be upbeat, why do something if you’re not enjoying it?
