Amber interview for Education Role

What does being a student at this uni mean to you?

I’m a final year Media Studies student and it’s a good community to be in. Everyone knows everyone. You’ve always got a connection to someone.

There’s so many societies where you will find your niche. No matter if you’re like K-pop or 3D printing… anything, literally anything.

Why are running for this role?

I’m fighting for this role because I feel like there’s so many issues that haven’t been looked at.

Timetables, there’s only one person on campus that arranges them and it’s really important to get those looked at, especially for those who do commute because a four hour gap is not suitable for them when that person could be at work trying to improve their money situation.

Finance is a whole other issue that needs addressing as well as improving the Academic Rep system because I feel like the option is given to everyone but not many people are going for it. Student voice is so important and it makes your voice heard.

What do you hope to bring to the uni?

I’m hoping to bring more funding across uni, especially in Arts & Humanities Department.

Also career support, because once you leave this university you enter the graduate job market which is absolutely disastrous at the minute.

Career support for final year students, that’s so important. Drop-in sessions for careers advice and appointments.

Why should people give you that role?

I will be voicing everyone’s opinions. If you message me I will follow through with what your concerns are.

I want to fight for everyone who is wanting to get the best out of their education.

If you could sum up your campaign in three words what would they be and why?

Two words, Zara Larsson. Me and my inflatable dolphin want to bring the same positivity and outlook that she has to this university.
