That’s a wrap on a sensational Varsity between the University of Huddersfield and the University of Bradford, and what a perfect way to end an almost ideal event for Huddersfield.
The air was thick with pride in the Sports Hall on Wednesday night after Huddersfield’s exhilarating basketball win, and that energy carried on to the closing ceremony. Massive well done to the dancers from both universities, who put on a tremendous half-time performance during the basketball break. Despite not competing, they showed the filled Sports Hall that they had put in just as much hard work and practice as the teams who were competing.
The Sports Hall was bursting with accomplishment as the teams and supporters filled it; the energy in there was electric.
Huddersfield wanted to get the ‘Threepeat’ against Bradford, which was certainly achieved in style.
The overall results for Huddersfield were as follows:

- Badminton Men’s – Win
- Cricket – Lost
- Football Men’s 1st team – Win
- Football Men’s 2nd team – win
- Volleyball Women’s – Win
- Rugby Union Women’s – Win
- Rugby League Men’s – Win
- Netball Women –Win
- Basketball Men – Win
Out of 13 events, Huddersfield managed to win twelve of these in style!
This year, Huddersfield stood out with some excellent and relentless performances. Out of 13 events, Huddersfield managed to win in style on 12 of these! The dominance and perseverance over the two days of Varsity were an absolute testament to the hard work and dedication put in by not only the players but also the coaching staff.
The rugby league team celebrated a massive win after beating Bradford in 2 of the 3 9 games they played at Lockwood Park. This was their first win at Varsity since 2021, making it even more of a celebration.
Huddersfield continued their winning streak over Bradford, securing their third consecutive win in the highly anticipated annual Varsity rivalry.
The Bradford supporters are a testament to their university; however, many stayed until late to show their support to all involved.
