Harry Styles’ new single ‘Aperture’ marks an unexpected turn in his solo career and a bold choice for his first release in nearly three years. It’s the lead single from his upcoming album Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally and is a blend of electronic, techno and disco that is quite different from his previous work of pop rock. 

‘Aperture’ takes its time building and layering synths over the duration of five minutes to create this hypnotic beat and is lyrically centred around openness and connection. Ellie Rowsell of Wolf Alice is credited on background vocals, a surprising collaboration but adds texture and creates this further distance from his usual sound. 

This is an interesting step into a more experimental sound which has divided fans but shows this fresh side to his evolution as an artist.
