Why should people be interested in getting involved with your society?
This is because you don’t necessarily need to know how to play badminton. It’s an easy sport to pick up. We also like to think we’re a very welcoming society. Anyone can join at any level and still have a good time.
What courses does everyone study?
I am doing a professional policing degree, and I’m in my final year.
What is it about this society that made you want to join?
I’ve been playing badminton since I was about ten years old, and then I stopped in high school. I wanted to pick it back up. I wanted to get competitive again, so in my first year, I joined the social sessions. In my second year, I joined the team.
If you had to describe your society in three words, what would they be and why?
I’d say it’s fun because you can have a laugh with it. I’d say welcoming because anyone can join. Also, it’s community-driven as it’s a team sport.
If your society could have a celebrity mascot, who would it be and why?
Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, because badminton can be a bit springy and chaotic, but fun at the same time.
What’s one fun fact about yourself?
I really like wearing funky shirts. Every training session, I always wear a funky shirt. I’ve got Remy the Rat shirt, I’ve got a Tractor shirt, and I’ve got a Shrek shirt.
