What does being a student at this uni mean to you?
I’m President for K-Wave Society and being a student is being part of the community within Huddersfield.
It’s quite special as it’s a smaller uni so everything is close-knit which made being a student here good.
There’s many societies and events you can get involved in and it’s a very nice experience.
Why are you running for this role?
For some of you, you may know I ran last year and I’m running again this year because I’m passionate.
I’ve been on committee for the past three years and I’ve seen first hand the issues committees face but also what societies face when it comes to like
I want to change that and break the bridges between students. That’s what I’m doing.
What do you hope to bring to the uni?
I hope to get a lot more underrepresented communities involved within societies. Utilising This Girl Can and building from this framework for other underrepresented communities.
As well, having activities officers that are actually there, not only for certain societies, but for all societies.
I’m also pushing an anonymous chat system for people to raise concerns if they don’t feel comfortable to do so.
Why should people give you that vote?
People should give me their vote because I’m not a person who’s just trying because I’m running. For the past two or three years I’ve been going to events even when I wasn’t running.
I know, many people are running and they’re like, oh look, we’re going to events, we care. But they weren’t here before they put the application in. I’ve been here since day one.
I think a lot of people can’t see the amount of effort that I do put through to my societies.
If you could describe your campaign in three words what would they be and why?
Passionate. Dedicated. Fun.
I’ve put a lot of effort into my policies. These policies have been made by talking to the best and different societies and my own experience.
24/7 I’ve been thinking about these elections while making it a fun experience overall.
